As I sit here enjoying a cup of coffee before Logan is up and it's 7am, I just think about all of the structure we've implemented with his sleep in the beginning.
There is no mom shaming in this post as every family should do what's best for them. But for us, sleep training was the best thing for us and our son.
I researched and read many books on sleep training and other methods, and because as humans we like schedule and structure, it seemed to me that doing that with a newborn would help us all thrive. The idea of the baby dictating our schedule and day seemed very opposite of what I needed for my mental health and surviving the newborn phase.
We started off by reading the babywise book, but this for me was hard to connect to. Unless everyone was onboard in understanding and adjusting the schedule constantly and opening the book all the time, it was hard to implement this for everyone that was around Logan.
I was scrolling through Facebook and LittleOnes came up on my feed. I loved that the creators were from New Zealand. I clicked and absolutely loved the entire plan. It was easy to follow, sent notifications to everyone that was logged into the app, it gave instant trouble shoots if the baby did something different, and you had access to sleep consultants. Genius!
Within 3-4 days Logan was used to the plan and so was our whole household. He has been able to sleep independently since we started this program at 3 months old, and he knows how to self soothe during the night. Our routine is so great, that I know exactly when he's napping, which gives me time to plan my life too. The program helps with transitions, sleep regressions, and how to potty train too.
Logan is almost three now and after we brush teeth and read books in bed, he says to us that it's time to get out of his room so he can sleep 😂 I'm so glad we joined this program and we will definitely be using it with out next child.
